Art Sam

Sunarti Samat, who is also known as Art Sam was born in Singapore. Art Sam enjoys drawing since young and hence further her passion in Arts and she graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts with Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts in 2010.

A self-taught photographer who loves to capture any “moments”, her philosophy is

“Moments are never the same, it can never be repeated or duplicated...”, Art Sam.

Apart from honing her skills in photography, she creates paintings on walls murals. "Is a deep satisfaction and a great sense of achievement when I get to paint on big walls. "

Art Sam artworks are mostly abstract. “I am a neat and a typical perfectionist however I am definitely not the perfectionist when it comes to painting”. Her artwork revealed her creativity, passion, zealousness and flow, together with her thoughts and emotions.

Art Sam has been teaching in schools since 2009. She has explored and ventured into different mediums such as acrylic, watercolour, oil pastel, charcoal, paper mache, clay and batik. She teaches art in various primary and secondary schools and learning needs students, for the past 10 years. She strongly believes that people of different age groups, with different abilities, learning or special needs are able to communicate through Art. It is an expressive language that everybody possesses, somehow require some teaching moment to unlock that inner self to be expressive. This was explored through helping learning needs students who have difficulty communicating and resulting in frustration and hopelessness. Art Sam is able to help individuals walk out of their darkest world and many have benefitted from this platform that Art Sam has created.
