Title: Macritchie Reservoir
Code: AZPTGC007
Gary loves how sunsets can turn an ordinary place into something magical. MacRitchie Reservoir, one of Singapore’s most beloved nature spots, is already peaceful, but when the sky lights up with oranges, pinks, and blues, it feels like a dream.
He had fun layering the colors in the water, making it shimmer and reflect the sky above. The little pavilion and boat add to the calm, inviting you to sit back and take it all in. For him, this painting is a reminder of how nature and city life coexist in Singapore—a quiet escape in the middle of a bustling world. What about you?

Gary, 28, is an artist with a bright and determined spirit. Diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, he faces significant challenges in both intellectual and adaptive functioning. He received his fundamental education at Towner Garden School and continues to develop his daily living and pre-employment skills at Touch Independent Living Centre. Despite these challenges, Gary has discovered a deep passion for art, which has become a meaningful part of his journey toward self-expression and confidence.
Art Journey
Gary’s artistic journey began unexpectedly when he attended his friend’s art exhibition. Deeply inspired, he decided to try painting himself. With encouragement, he took up art lessons and has now been painting for about three years. He enjoys applying bold and vibrant colors to his canvas, with thick, expressive brushstrokes that reflect his unique artistic style. Due to underdeveloped fine motor skills and challenges with eye-hand coordination, every stroke requires significant effort and courage. Yet, through perseverance, he has found great joy and a sense of accomplishment in painting. Art has not only built his confidence but has also allowed him to share his colorful and vibrant perception of the world with others.
